Downtown driving in Toronto this weekend is going to be quite tricky, and there are multiple reasons why.

  • The Gardiner is undergoing major construction this weekend, and will be closed from the DVP/Carlaw Ave to Highway 427/QEW. This will go down from 11PM Friday night until Monday morning at 5AM.

  • York Street will be shut down for a movie shoot from Front to Wellington on Sunday from 7AM to 7PM

  • Bay Street between Richmond and Adelaide will be closed the entire weekend like The Gardiner from 11PM Friday night until Monday morning at 5AM.

  • Bloor Street from Yonge Street to just shy of Bay Street will be a no go from 9PM on Friday night to Sunday night at midnight.

  • Queen Street from Yonge to Bay will also be closed, but for a shorter period (from 10AM to 10PM on Sunday) for the Hudson Bay’s holiday reveal

Between a bunch of road closures; the time change on Sunday; (set your clocks back an hour on Sunday morning at 2AM!), as well as a partial closure of the subway, (Line 1, no service, Lawrence to St Clair, for construction!) This is going to be a TOUGH weekend! But, keep smiling (and BREATHING!) We’ll get through it, together!
