Maroon 5 is bringing a new colour to their stage…green!

The band has been working at making their tours more sustainable.

Jesse Carmichael, the band’s pianist and guitarist told CNN, he noticed how much liter and garbage was left over after a show and wanted to do something about it.

When Maroon 5 wanted to reduce the waste produced at their shows, they turned to their good friend Adam Gardner from the band Guster, who they had previously toured with.

Gardner and his wife founded a non-profit environmental organization called Reverb that helps musicians reduce the waste produced from their tours.

Some of the ways Reverb helps musicians “green up” their tours is by selling merchandise made from sustainable materials, replacing single use batteries with rechargeable batteries in the ear monitors, making sure the stage lights are energy efficient.

Gardner says making your tour green has become more popular among artists like Shawn Mendes, P!NK, Dave Matthews Band and Fleetwood Mac.
