Following the passing of Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Harry released a heartfelt statement, and shared the kind of relationship he had with his grandfather.  Prince Harry writes:

“My grandfather was a man of service, honour and great humour.  He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm – and also because you never knew what he might say next.  He will be remembered as the longest reigning consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke.  But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of the past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ’til the end.  He has been a rock for Her Majesty The Queen with unparalleled devotion, by her side for 73 years of marriage, and while I could go on, I know that right now he would say to all of us, beer in hand, ‘Oh do get on with it!'”

In a separate tribute, Prince William writes, “My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation.”

Prince Phillip’s funeral will be held on Saturday and according to People, Prince William and Prince Harry will not walk together at their grandfather’s funeral.  “William and Harry will both join family members in walking behind their grandfather’s coffin, but their cousin, Peter Phillips (the son of Princess Anne), is set to walk between them,” reveals the outlet.  The funeral will be held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

For the first time in a year, Harry returned to the UK to attend his grandfather’s funeral.  Meghan, who is pregnant and expecting the couple’s second child, stayed behind in the U.S.  According to a royal spokesman, “Meghan has been advised by her physician not to travel.”
