Amy Pascal, producer behind Tom’s Spidey trilogy, both Venom movies, and 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse recalls the time she warned Tom and Zendaya not to fall for one another.  She previously told The New York Times, “I took Tom and Zendaya aside, separately, when we first cast them and gave them a lecture.  Don’t go there — just don’t. Try not to.”

It’s clear that Amy’s advice didn’t stick because Tom and Zendaya have been dating for months now.  This isn’t the first time Peter Parker and his love interest have fallen for one other in real life – Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, as well as Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.  “It can just complicate things, you know? And they all ignored me,” Amy says of co-stars who have dated in real life.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Tom revealed he’s ready to take a break from the spotlight, “I’ve spent the last six years being so focused on my career.  I want to take a break and focus on starting a family and figuring out what I want to do outside of this world.  I love kids, I can’t wait to be a dad – I can wait, and I will, but I can’t wait.  If I’m at a wedding or a party, I’m always at the kids’ table hanging out.”

Although he’s ready to take a break from Hollywood, Tom has ‘loved every minute of playing Spider-Man,’ “I’ve been so grateful to Marvel and Sony for giving us the opportunity and keeping us on and allowing our characters progress.  It’s been amazing,” Tom tells PEOPLE.

He continues, “And that’s why for me, I don’t want to say goodbye to Spider-Man – but I feel like we might be ready to say goodbye to Spider-Man.”
