By Nicolina Moscati for 98.1 CHFI

We’re another week closer to spring! Pooja & Gurdeep showcase some activities that run right through March break, so you might have time to do them all!

  1. Satisfy your sweet tooth with real maple syrup

This weekend is the opening for many sugar festivals in the area. The Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival at the Kortright Centre in Vaughan is opening for some family-fun activities and maple syrup demonstrations on weekends and March Break. Find more info and get your tickets here. There’s also a helpful map and schedule to help you plan your visit!

  1. Relive history at Fort York

The Fort York National Historic Site, Toronto’s battle site from the War of 1812, is hosting a variety of programming over March Break. From March 12th to 20th, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be many fun activities, tours, and demonstrations like guided outdoor tours and learning how to cook over an open fire. Admission is free and events will run rain or shine.

  1. Experience some Robert Munsch classics

This weekend the Wychwood Theatre is hosting Fireside Munsch, with 4 of Robert Munsch’s stories performed as one wacky storytelling play. You can catch Seeing Red, The Sandcastle Contest, Give Me Back My Dad! and Smelly Socks, at 10:00am, 12:00pm, and 3:30pm March 12th or 13th. Find tickets and more info here.

  1. Say “Hello Winter” in Barrie

Combine exercise with a history lesson on the “Victorian Barrie Heroes, Heroines, Rogues and Scoundrels!” historic walking tour in Barrie. The tour takes place March 13th at 1:00pm and starts at Meridian Place.

Other “Hello Winter” activities in Barrie include the Chimes interactive art installation, and projected art program.

  1. See the world from a bug’s-eye view

The Ontario Science Centre’s Bug Lab is an interactive experience with “giant, ultra-realistic models of seven bug species” and separate chambers meant to emulate their natural habitats. If the thought of giant bugs doesn’t make your skin crawl, be sure to check out the Bug Lab before it closes on April 2nd.
