The Disability Holiday Market

Introducing The Disability Holiday Market, presented by The Disability Collective and Wagner-Green Centre for Access and Inclusion! This brand new event will feature work created by disabled artists while celebrating the diversity of the holiday season in Toronto. Stop by to shop arts and crafts made by local disabled artists, participate in community-building events such as a card making station, and enjoy food & drinks from community vendors to keep you warm and cozy!

The Disability Holiday Market will allow disabled artists to showcase and sell their work in a fun and community-driven environment, while celebrating the holiday spirit. This family-friendly event will be a fun and festive opportunity for the community to come together, experience and engage in art, and enjoy the holiday season.

The Bentway Skate Trail

The Bentway transforms into a uniquely urban winter wonderland with the December 17 opening of its 220 metre skate trail.

The Bentway was created to bring residents and visitors together in a public space and to connect outdoors year-round.

  • Featured “First Winter” programming includes the glowing new art installation, Beacons, by Shellie Zhang; performance; music; storytelling; and community care initiatives.Enjoy hot chocolate & other goodies available for purchase at the bar.
  • The Polar Bear Skateis back! On December 31, skate in your underwear or bathing suit, with a winter outerwear clothing drive to support newcomers and refugees experiencing their first winter in the city. Pre-registration is required.
  • On Mondays starting January 9, enjoy free hot chocolate from 5pm-9pm courtesy of CityPlace Fort York BIA.
  • On Fridays starting January 13, we are pleased to offer free skate rentals from 5pm-9pm.

 

Access to The Bentway is Free and Accessible.  Pre-registration is not required. Rentals: $10 for adults and $8 for kids (helmet included).

Adult helmets cost $5. Skate sharpening is offered in the skate rental container for $6. Pre-registration for Free Skate Lessons   Venue:  Public space under the Gardiner, stretching from Strachan Avenue to Bathurst Street.

The Bentway is a unique and innovative public space that transforms 1.75km underneath Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway, from Strachan Avenue to Bathurst Street.  The Bentway knits together seven local neighbourhoods with over 77,000 residents, becoming a gateway to the waterfront, while providing access to important attractions and destinations – from Fort York National Historic Site, Ontario Place and Exhibi-tion Place to Harbourfront Centre and the CN Tower.
