Ellen DeGeneres revealed on Instagram recently that one of her chickens named Sinkie had to be rehomed because other “chickens were still picking on her.” The former talk show host wrote, “Luckily our friends Harry and Meghan’s coop had room for one more. Not sure yet what her royal title will be.” Later, DeGeneres shared a video seemingly taken by the Duchess of Sussex of Sinkie “fitting right in at her new home.”

In a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan, aged 42, and Harry, aged 39, provided a sneak peek into the chickens residing on their Montecito, California estate. They affectionately named the chicken coop “Archie’s Chick Inn” in honor of their 4-year-old son, Prince Archie.

Within their conversation with the 69-year-old Winfrey, the couple disclosed that they had saved the hens from a factory farm, aligning with their commitment to a more simplified lifestyle.

“I derive immense satisfaction from the act of rescuing,” Meghan expressed to Winfrey.

Meghan rescued her beagle, Guy, from a euthanasia shelter in Kentucky, and he has been her faithful companion since the moment she met Prince Harry. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also share their home with two other adopted dogs: a black labrador named Pula and a beagle named Mia.

Even prior to their friendship, Meghan and DeGeneres bonded over their shared passion for animal adoption. Before Meghan became a member of the royal family, she recounted to Best Health an incident when she was at a dog shelter, and Ellen DeGeneres, along with her wife, Portia de Rossi, entered.

“Although we weren’t acquainted then, Ellen asked, ‘Is that your dog?’ I replied, ‘No,’ and she insisted, ‘You have to take that dog.’ I hesitated, saying, ‘Well, I’m still deciding.’ To this, she urged, ‘Rescue the dog!'” Meghan reminisced. “It’s akin to when Oprah tells you to do something. I’m holding the dog, and Ellen queries, ‘Have you thought of a name for him yet?’ I mentioned ‘Bogart,’ and she emphatically declared, ‘You’re taking the dog home.'”

Meghan added, “As she left to get into her car, instead, she turned back, tapped on the window, and shouted, ‘Take the dog!’ So, I brought him home—all because Ellen told me to.”
