Tributes are pouring in for Regis Philbin, much loved and respected television host who died Saturday at the age of 88. Regis began his career in TV as a car jockey on the lot of one of the studios, moving on to become a page for The Tonight Show, and later The Tonight Show Announcer. His first TV hosting job was in San Diego where because there was no budget for a writer, Regis opened the show talking to the audience or his co-host about events or what was happening in their lives. This became known as the ‘host chat’ which Regis was so good at.  People.com has more on Regis Philbin.
