Who better to celebrate the strength and power of women than women?! We have gathered some of the most empowering female anthems meant to inspire and liberate womanhood.

‘Roar’ – Katy Perry

Katy Perry describes being insecure and unsure of herself in the beginning of the triumphant song ‘Roar’, which then leads into finding her inner strength. With lyrics like, “Now I’m floating like a butterfly / Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes / I went from zero, to my own hero”, she summarizes her journey in self discovery.

‘Miss Independent’ – Kelly Clarkson

The queen of uplifting anthems takes an interesting approach with ‘Miss Independent’, as she describes a guarded woman who reluctantly falls in love. She combines the idea of finding a mate while being able to keep your independence and strength. They do not need to be mutually exclusive.

‘Man, I Feel Like a Woman’ – Shania Twain

Shania celebrates the joys of being a woman, despite the barriers and obstacles women face daily living in this society. A highlight lyric “No inhibitions, make no conditions / Get a little outta line / I ain’t gonna act politically correct / I only want to have a good time / The best thing about being a woman is the prerogative to have a little fun,” describes letting go and being free to be who you want to be, without caring what others think.

‘What About Us’ – P!nk

P!nk is known for speaking up for those who’s voice may feel silenced, and ‘What About Us’ is a great example of just that. She is speaking as the masses who feel unheard, specifically the vulnerable public at the hands of the American government. P!nk uses her platform to uplift those who feel helpless, and that in itself is overly empowering.
