The Miami Marlins of baseball’s National League were shaken to their core Sunday after receiving unthinkably tragic news: their young All-Star pitcher Jose Fernandez had been killed in a boating accident.  Marlins manager Don Mattingly (pictured) broke down in a press conference as he compared Jose’s joy and exuberance for the game to that of a little-leaguer’s.  Sportsnet has the story of a young man who fled Cuba, who saved his mother’s life in the process, who realized a dream, and who in the end had his life cut far too short.
