Clocks fall back an hour at 2am on Sunday, marking the end of Daylight Saving Time!

That means an extra hour to enjoy all the things you have planned for the weekend, or if you prefer, to get an extra hour of sleep.

The time change means it will be dark by early evening, so drivers and pedestrians are advised to take extra care when getting behind the wheel or crossing the street.

Fire Prevention Officers also remind us, this is the perfect time to change the batteries in our smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, to ensure they’re in top working condition.

She also says it’s a good time to check the manufacturer’s date on the units too.

If a smoke alarm is 10 years or older and a Carbon Monoxide detector is 7 years or older they highly recommend they be replaced.
